Summer Arts Camp
For the past eight years, ESCA has provided free half-day art programming to elementary and middle school students each summer in East San Jose. Students entering grades 3 and up are encouraged to engage their creativity and explore their imaginations at absolutely no cost to parents.
We are committed to creating content that is culturally relevant, highly engaging, and authentic. By doing so, ESCA encourages its participants to celebrate their heritage and culture through creativity and imagination. ESCA students participate in a range of visual and performing arts classes each day, led by a staff comprised of credentialed teachers and community artists.
Students entering grades 3-6 are grouped in elementary groups that experience all types of visual and performing arts. Students in middle school have the option to choose a "track" to focus on either visual or performing arts.
Field trips are also an integral part of our engagement model. Each year, students travel to the San Jose Museum of Art to participate in a "2-Part Art" tour in which they are given a tour of the museum, and then offered the chance to create art based on the exhibits they viewed. In addition, students visit one of the following museums: the San Jose Museum of Art, the Tech Museum of Innovation, Children’s Discovery Museum, MACLA, and the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles.
